More than 200 jobs will be created with the opening of a Waitrose supermarket, it was announced.The upmarket grocery chain was granted permission to build a 25,000 sq ft branch in Newton Mearns near Glasgow. It will be almost twice the size of its recently opened store in Byres Road in the city’s west end. The UK’s largest employee-owned company claims more than 200 new jobs will be created by the new store at the Greenlaw Village development.Plans for a purpose-built Waitrose store were approved by East Renfrewshire Council.
